REV. BEATRICE BOSTIC

Rev. Beatrice Diana Bostic was born in the Bahamas and migrated to the United States, at an early age, settling with her parents in Miami, Florida. Diagnosed with Asthma, the doctors had determined she would die until Jesus Christ miraculously healed her. At the early age of 9 she accepted the Lord, was filled with the Holy Ghost and later baptized in the name of Jesus.

She knew she was chosen by God to spread the gospel that Jesus saves,   keeps, and satisfies.

She moved to Mt. Vernon, New York in 1939, where she later met and married Joseph Bostic. Together they had four children, Joe, Richard, Joyce and Judith.

In September, 1960 an organized group of Jesus name baptized believers, elected Minister Beatrice Bostic as pastor. Through Elder Bert Perkins the group was introduced to the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World (P.A.W.), and became a member of the New York State & Ontario District Council.

Ordained with the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World (P.A.W.) by Bishop Samuel Grimes, Rev. Bostic has served the New York State & Canada Council as a member of the Executive Board, to which she was appointed as a permanent member by the late Bishop William Crossley. She has also served as Director of The Christian Education Department. Pastor Bostic has served the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World, and the Council for 59 years. She was a faithful member, attendee and supporter of the International Missionary Christian Women’s Auxiliary (IMCWA) for over 40 years. In recognition of her work to the IMCWA she received the Pentecostal Pearl award at the International Convention in August 2010.

A preacher of the Gospel and an orator of the word, Rev. Bostic always sought ways to be equipped for her calling. In that vein she pursued higher learning in the field of Pastoral Ministry with Aenon Bible College, Moody Bible College and Liberty College.

In the early seventies she was instrumental in the Mt. Olivet Church   purchasing a 22-apartment building complex, which also housed the Sanctuary. This 22 (2 bedrooms) apartment building provided low income housing for hundreds of residents not only of Mt. Vernon, but also for others from Brooklyn, Bronx, New Rochelle, Connecticut and as far away as Georgia and Florida.  When the rents were not enough to maintain the building. Pastor Bostic without hesitation used her personal money to ensure the comfort of the tenants and upkeep of the building.

One June 5, 1990, Pastor Bostic suffered a heart attack and had an ‘out of body experience.’ Undaunted she continued as Pastor until December 1998 when she graciously retired after 38 years of commendable service. She has been acclaimed by Presidents, Governors, Mayors, County Legislators, local City Council, and the Bahamian Consulate for her contributions to mankind.

Pastor Bostic’s ministry is well rounded in that she not only emphasized the spiritual but was a strong supporter of Academia. She not only advised but helped many financially to pursue their dreams of higher learning.  Her ministry has been blessed by the Lord to bless many. Out of her ministry she has birthed several Bishops, Pastors, Elders and Evangelists who continue to spread the gospel.

Because of the foundation which she laid and the many sacrifices made, the Mt. Olivet Apostolic Faith Church was blessed after her retirement to relocate to a larger facility, the ‘St. Francis of Assisi’ building, in the city of Mt. Vernon, New York.

In the year 2020, Mt. Olivet Apostolic Faith Church celebrated 60 Years since its inception. In recognition of her many contributions, the Mt. Vernon City Council, on April 28, 2010 authorized that South 10th Avenue, in the city of Mt. Vernon which borders the church be designated – ‘The Rev. Beatrice Bostic Way’. This one-way street provides an entranceway to the city of Mt. Vernon, and attest to the fact it is only one way to God. On Saturday, September 4, 2010 in a festive ceremony the street was officially named. Among those in attendance were members of the clergy, the Mayor of the city of Mt. Vernon, former Mayor, the Bahamian Consulate General, the Assistant Bahamian Consulate General, State Senator, members of the Mt. Vernon City Council, Mt. Vernon City Clerk, Commissioners of various city departments, members of the community along with the Mt. Olivet membership.

Rev. Beatrice Bostic was a member of the Board of Directors of the Mt. Olivet Apostolic Faith Church, and an advisor to the Pastor.  Her motto “We have come this far by faith leaning on the Lord”.

On   August 16, 2020 at 4:44pm the Rev. Beatrice Diana Bostic departed this life to accept her crowns in Glory.
